Cancer is a scary word but with some perspective we can deal with the challenge it presents. Cancer comes in many forms and nearly every person has been touched by it in their lives by experiencing it or knowing a loved one that has had it.
I want to be present each day and help others wherever possible so I’m sharing a few thoughts here with you. Sometimes all you need in life is someone to hug you and let you know everything is going to be all right.
One of my favorite juggler comedians was cancer survivor Scott Burton. He had a great perspective on life after his cancer experience and wrote a book “A Life in the Balance“. His life changed through the experience and his life mission changed to providing hope and joy to many. Here are excerpts from some of his performances and his keynote when he spoke to cancer patients.
Some thoughts…
- Stay positive and enjoy each moment of life as it comes with a passion.
- Don’t be afraid to talk through your experiences with others.
- Find new ways to laugh and experience joy.
- Lean on God for peace and comfort.
Here are some of my favorite Scriptures that have encouraged me during the hardest times in my life:
- Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid: Do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9
- This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. — Psalms 118:24
- And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him — Romans 8:28
- May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him. — Romans 15:13
- May the God of peace … equip you with everything good for doing his will. — Hebrews 13:20-21
Pastor Andy Stanley has recently done a great series….In the Meantime. It was a blessing to me and will hopefully be for you as well.
Let me know how I can be praying for you as you face this life challenge.
