The “Holy Horns”

The “Holy Horns” were an addition of trumpets, trombones, and saxes to the worship band at Church of the Open Door from 1997-2004. Many of the arrangements were done by Eric Songer and Bruce Balgaard. We played consistently for one weekend each month including Easter and Christmas. We started play when Open Door was meeting at Robbinsdale High School and followed on to the Earle Brown Center and their new building in Maple Grove in 2002.

Much of the music we played was contemporary worship including jazz and funk beats and styles. The horns made it on several recordings. Here are a few representative tunes.
